Ilse Lafer

Biography

Ilse Lafer lives and works in Vienna. She worked as curator of the Generali Foundation in Vienna from 2008 to 2015. From 1998 to 2008, she worked as assistant curator for the Kunsthalle Wien and for Universalmuseum Joanneum Graz. Since 2014, she works as Lecturer at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Ilse Lafer curated numerous exhibitions such as: Die Toten. Hans-Peter Feldmann. RAF, APO, Baader-Meinhof: 1967–1993 Kunsthalle Wien in 2007; Chen Zhen. Der Körper als Landschaft Kunsthalle Wien in 2007; Modernism as a Ruin – An Archaeology of the Present, Generali Foundation (Vienna) in 2009; Behind the Fourth Wall, Ficitious Lives – Lived Fictions, Generali Foundation in 2010 ; unExhibit, Generali Foundation in 2011 ; Morgan Fisher. The Frame and Beyond, Generali Foundation in 2012; Counter-Production, Generali Foundation in 2012; Counter-Production II, INDEX, The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation (Stockholm) in 2013; Were I made of matter, I would color. Ulrike Grossarth, Generali Foundation in 2014; Be a Place. Place an Image, Imagine a Poem. Ree Morton, a Restrospective, Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid) in 2015. She also wrote numerous essays and contributed to diverse publications.
