Alain Declercq

Various structures of power, the forces of order, contemporary forms of oppression and security, and media manipulation are the core concerns of French artist Alain Declercq. Born in 1969 in Moulins, France, he lives and works in Paris. His work has been shown in Europe since the early 1990s, including at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2006 and 2003), Museum 52 in London (2005) and the Musée d’art moderne de la ville de Paris (2001). He has also created a number of specific pieces, among them Welcome Home Boss, featured in the Mois de la Photo in Montreal (2001) and Crash Cars, shown at the Cairo Biennale (2001).
