Liu Yue

Liu Yue (1981–) is a Chinese artist who lives and works in Shanghai. His practice is centred on the materials of photography, as well as on analysis of the material­ity of images and the human cognitive habit of images, light, and forms. He is interested in translating everyday objects into other forms and questioning the essence of the object. His work has been widely presented in solo and group shows, and recent exhibitions include MASS, SPACE LOCAL (Beijing, 2016); Histories of a Global Hub, Suzhou Museum (2016); DO YOU WANNA PLAY WITH ME, Between Art Lab (Shanghai, 2016); ‘The Gentle Slope’ Liu Yue, AM Art Space (Shanghai, 2015); and Nonfigura­tive, Shanghai 21st Century Minsheng Art Museum (2015). He is represented by the ShanghART Gallery (Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore).
