Sabine Folie

Sabine Folie is an art historian, author, and independent curator. She is the Director of the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz. Research Center for Media and Performance Art (Austria) and teaches Public Art and New Artistic Strategies as a Guest Lecturer at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Germany). From 2008 to 2014, she was the Director of the Generali Foundation in Vienna, and acted as Chief Curator at Kunsthalle Wien from 1998 to 2007.

Her exhibitions and publications notably include projects on Willem Oorebeek (2016), Ree Morton (2015 and 2008), Ulrike Grossarth (2014), Morgan Fisher (2012), Danica Dakic (2010), Ana Torfs (2010), Dorothy Iannone / Lee Lozano (2006), Eva Hesse (2004), Marcel Broodthaers (2003), Rodney Graham (1999), etc. Thematic exhibitions include unExhibit (2011), Modernism as a Ruin: An Archaelogy of the Present (2009), Un Coup de Dés: Writing Turned Image: An Alphabet of Pensive Language (2008), The Impossible Theater (2005), Tableaux Vivants: Living Pictures and Attitudes in Photography, Film and Video (2002), and A Baroque Party: Moments of World Theater in Contemporary Art (featuring works by Paul Thek, Yvonne Rainer, Ulrike Grossarth, and others, in 2001).
