Born in Barcelona in 1950\. He was an activist for workers’ autonomy in the 1970s, and worked for several years as a chemist. He later studied philosophy, and is currently a tenured lecturer in that discipline at the University of Barcelona. He took part in several resistance movements in the wake of the Workers’ Movement crisis. He is also a founding member of the collective _Espai en blanc_ (www.espaienblanc.net), dedicated to critical and experimental thinking. The collective’s output includes the film _El taxista Ful_ (2005), the “Free Money” campaigns and a series of tracts known as “El pressentiment.” Santiago López Petit has published several books, including _Entre el Ser y el Poder: Una apuesta por el querer vivir_ (1998, reprinted in 2009), _Horror Vacui: La nuit de la traversée du siècle_ (published in a French translation by Les Éditions de L’harmattan, 2010), _El infinito y la nada: El querer vivir como desafío_ (2003), _Aimer et penser: la haine du vouloir-vivre_ (French translation, Les Éditions de L’harmattan, 2010) and _La movilización global: Breve tratado para atacar la realidad_ (Madrid, 2009).
