Portrait of Steve Reinke.

The videos of Canadian artist Steve Reinke blur the boundaries between fiction and documentary. Reinke explores notions of identity, homosexuality, history, society, death, life, art and science by combining images that are filmed, found and animated. The many realities created in the videos are interpreted, analyzed and critiqued by the artist. A talented writer and videographer, he uses narration, as well as written and verbal discourse, to transform the images and manipulate their meaning. He is a keen observer of the world that surrounds him, commenting and superimposing his voice with strange or explicit, serious or banal images, all the while seducing the spectator with his witty and ironic sense of humour.
